Weddings Unveiled : Event Styling + Design – Look Crafty

Working in the wedding industry means I’ve met some truly talented people, who have lots of fab advice when it comes to planning your wedding. Today, I caught up with Annette Hughes from Look Crafty, who is offering all you brides and grooms-to-be an insight into what she does and the trends she predicts will be huge in the future.

Annette, tell us about Look Crafty. What aspects of the wedding are you involved in?

At Look Crafty, we provide a wedding styling service. We create a look or theme based on the bride and groom’s requirements and vision. We try to work with their particular budget to create what they have imagined. Sometimes it can be to bring a small area of interest of the bride and groom’s personality to the day or it can be a complete theme from dressing the ceremony area to the drinks reception and then the banquet room. We also cater for our DIY enthusiasts with a hire service in which they can pick up items to display themselves, which are then returned to our store after the wedding. We also work with a florist which means we can design the whole wedding and make it seamless.

What do you love about the wedding industry?

We love the variation of work and also seeing a blank canvas transformed into a beautiful space. There is no better feeling of achievement than this.

What themes are proving popular with couples in 2015?

The vintage theme with hessian trimmings was popular with couples last year and it is set to continue this year. There are so many options when it comes to this theme and we love imagining and creating new variations of it.

What colours are trending this year?

Gorgeous champagne, blush and coral tones seem to be featuring quite often as the favourite colours for bridesmaids, which are then incorporated into the finishing touches for the wedding.

What is the most unique request you have ever honoured?

We were once asked to spray tin cans to tie to the back of a car and we also styled a mad hatters tea party!

What is the most memorable wedding you have been involved in?

One of the first full weddings we styled was in Castleward and it was such a lovely theme! The entire day was really fun day and so relaxed. Although it took two days to put it together, the finished result was definitely worth it! Every wedding we do is memorable in its own way.
