I remember Fiona and Pearse’s wedding well and I loved the fact that even rain didn’t put a downer on this couple’s happy, carefree attitude. Because it was such an unforgettable day, I thought it would be great to catch up with Fiona, who, in her own words, shares with you just a few of her favourite memories from their spectacular wedding at Villa Rose Hotel & Spa, Co. Donegal. This is what she had to say…
So Fiona, how did you & Pearse meet?
We met through friends on a night out. We were introduced to each other and we hit it off straight away. By the end of the night we exchanged numbers and he asked me out. The rest, as they say, is history.
Tell us about married life?
We built a house and moved in when we came home from our honeymoon. Married life is great – we’ve really enjoyed getting settled into the house and decorating.
When and where did you get married?
We got married on the 10th of July 2015. Our ceremony was in St Patrick’s chapel, Glen and the reception was in the Villa Rose Hotel, Ballybofey.
What is your favourite memory of the day?
There are so many but I really remember how happy I felt when I saw Pearse for the first time at the chapel but also the whole reception was brilliant. I loved being able to dance and enjoy the day with our friends and family.
What three words would you use to describe your wedding?
Fun, relaxed, happy.
What was the overall vibe for your wedding?
We didn’t choose a specific theme as we just wanted to have all the little things that were special and individual to us, instead of sticking to one idea. I think it worked well.
Tell us about your search for your dream dress?
I found it really difficult to find my dream dress. I knew I wanted something that wasn’t overly detailed but still had that something special and I also wanted a dress that I could dance and enjoy the day in. After visiting eight different bridal shops I finally found it in Castle Couture.
And your bridesmaid dresses?
I wanted the girls to be able to dance and celebrate and thought that short dresses were perfect. I knew I needed them to be simple and elegant to go with my dress and we found them in Creative Ideas, Cookstown.
Where did you honeymoon?
We decided to go to America and visit a few places while we were there. We started in LA, then headed to Hawaii and finished in San Francisco. It was wonderful and we’d definitely love to go back.
