The COVID-19 Tests You Need For Honeymoon

You may be heading off on honeymoon after your wedding and now with some restrictions lifted you can with the correct tests get away.

MedChecks offer Covid Testing Northern Ireland to enable you to get tested before you travel, during and on your return.

They have test centres at Belfast International Airport at McCauslands, in Letterkenny and Bridgend.

Here’s some information from a recent blog post they shared with the info you need to know right now. (Accurate 16th July 2021).

Quarantine Free Travel From Amber Countries starts on July 26th for Northern Ireland. If you’re fully vaccinated and are travelling back from a country on the amber list, you won’t have to quarantine.

You will need to have had your vaccine two weeks before leaving the UK and have proof of your vaccination status using the NI vaccine app, which is set to launch next week.

You will still need a negative test three days before returning to the UK and a PCR test on day two after you return.

On return to the UK you will be asked to include your vaccination status on your passenger locator form.

Fully-vaccinated passengers and under-18s returning to Northern Ireland will no longer need to quarantine and children under 4 do not have to test. (Source ITV)

As of yesterday, Ibiza, Majorca, Menorca and Formentera are being moved onto the government’s amber travel list for England.

The Balearic Islands will join the list from 04:00 BST on Monday, 15 days after they were moved to the green watchlist. (Source BBC News)

Some countries such as Portugal and Malta are only accepting fully vaccinated travelers from the UK and some countries like Spain require a negative test before flying unless you’ve had both vaccinations.

Countries like France are only allowing those from the UK to travel there for essential reasons unless they’ve had both jabs.

One of the issues we have found is that information on the UK government’s website at times can differ from the advice given by the destination countries (Perhaps understandable as the restrictions are changing daily). With some believing for example that the need a PCR 74 hours before travel and others believing it to be 48 hours before for a particular country. Our advice is to err on the side of caution.

While we offer guidance, it is your responsibility to check entry requirements for each country as you will be liable if you do not have the correct tests. Even if the UK is on their Green or Amber list, the UK might not be on theirs.
