Sophie and Alastair were married on June 25th, with a ceremony at St. John the Evangelist Magherally Parish Church and a reception at the Pancake House.
On the day of the wedding, I met up with Sophie at her house for prep, while my second shooter, Karol McGonigle, was with Alastair at the church.
After the ceremony, the reception was held at Sophie’s parents’ house. It’s called the “Pancake House,” because Sophie named it when they moved in—when she was just five years old—and the name stuck. It was important to her to have the reception there, and I loved the feeling that it provided all day. The whole reception had an easy–going festival vibe to it, and I loved the fun and youthful atmosphere.
Back when I first met these two in December for the pre-wedding shoot, I knew that their day was going to be spectacular because they were so thoughtful and kind—and they didn’t disappoint. The Marquee setup was amazing, and the family spent so much time thinking of quirky details and things for their guests—from the games for both children and adults and the favours of homemade jam everyone got to take home!
There were so many moments throughout the day that I absolutely loved, so it’s hard to pick just one that is my favourite. But my most-favored images are the series of pictures with the vintage bike, by far. I loved shooting these!
Alastair & Sophie, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of this beautiful, fun day! I wish you both nothing but the best.
