SHOOTSAC!

I got my Shootsac today – woo hoo! The little back camera bag came to my attention when I was watching creativeLIVE with Jasmine Star over christmas. Jasmine and her second shooter and hubby, JD, use Shootsacs when shooting a wedding or engagement session.

Check out the creator of the Shootsac, Jessica Claire who explains what it’s all about:

If you get a chance, check out Jessica’s hilarious appearances on Becker‘s podcast on iTunes. She’s over at Aspire Photography Training doing a seminar soon (wish I could go, but don’t think I’ll make it).

Until now I’ve lugged my bag around (which has got increasingly heavy as my kit has expanded over the years). I hurt my back a couple of years ago and after having a camera bag on your back for most of the day shooting a wedding, my back has been killing me – not good! Previously I have also shot with two cameras and so many times I’ve ended up nearly strangled with camera straps and no doubt I looked pretty silly unravelling myself. Lastly and there’s no getting away from this – I look like a dork with a backpack with straps on both shoulders!

So moving forward I’m going to emulate Jasmine Star’s style of shooting and shoot with one body, my Canon 5D MKII and keep my 40D in my BIG Lowepro bag at the back of the chapel/church, or out of sight at the reception. I’ll keep all the lenses I need on me using the Shootsac. I have a few pre-wedding shoots in the coming weeks and my first wedding of the season is on 25 April and I’m shooting three weddings that week, so I’ll report back on how this new system of shooting with the Shootsac works.

A bit of advice for anyone buying one – try and get it when you’re in the states, mine got stopped coming through customs and I had to pay £36 duty! Doh!
