Nicola and Declan were married on 2 January, with a ceremony at the St. Eugene’s Cathedral in Derry and a reception at the An Grianán Hotel in Donegal. They currently live in Perth, Australia, but traveled back to Declan’s hometown of Derry to be wed.

I started off the day with Nicola as she was getting dressed at the Da Vinci’s Hotel, while my second shooter, Jude Brown, was at Declan’s parents’ house while he got ready. The couple had written letters to each other to read on the morning of the wedding, and that was a tender and touching moment for them both.

We met up at the cathedral for the beautiful ceremony. My favourite moment of the day was when Declan saw Nicola as she came down the aisle—it was a moment of pure joy and adoration.

After the ceremony, we stopped outside Peader O’Donnell’s pub for photos. This spot in particular was significant for Nicola and Declan, because they go there every time they find themselves back in Ireland.

Nicola and Declan were so much fun to photograph throughout the day. They look so natural together, and I loved how much they were willing to get creative and to run with any ideas to get some really good shots together.
