Mandy and Martin were married on February 20th, with a ceremony at the Ballybrack Church in Moville, County Donegal, and a reception at the Redcastle Hotel.
One the morning of the wedding, I arrived at Mandy’s house to prep, while my second shooter, Tom Nicholl, went to Redcastle to meet Martin.
It was a windy day with heavy showers, and we had to work fast to get shots between the showers. After the beautiful service, we took some bridal party photos at the cottages on the way to Stroove Beach, and once we were there, we had quite the adventure fighting the waves.
I had Mandy and Martin posing together on the beach when I saw out of the corner of my eye that a huge wave was coming in. They had their backs to the sea and didn’t see it as I tried to get them to get out of the way, but they thought I was giving them directions for a pose. At the very last minute, we managed to run away before the wave washed up on the beach.
After the madness of the beach, we found a nice, calm, sheltered spot on the grounds of Redcastle for a few more photos before the reception got underway. During the dinner, one of Mandy’s uncles read aloud a poem that he had written for the two of them—a hilarious retelling of how they met. He presented the finished poem to them in a frame when he was done.
Martin & Mandy, thank you so much for allowing me to be part of this grand adventure! You two are so full of life and laughter, and I know your future will be bright.
