KIRKNEWTON HOUSE STABLES WEDDING, EDINBURGH: CLAIRE + ANDY

Childhood sweethearts, Claire and Andrew are an amazing couple in every sense of the word. Their day was highly individual with Andy remarking in his speech that he should have a loyalty card to the local arts and crafts store!

In the morning Claire and her beautiful bridesmaids joked and looked forward to the ceremony and sharing the day together. The boys waited dutifully and excitement grew as it came close to Claire’s arrival in a white Edinburgh Taxi. The open air ceremony was lovely as bride and groom beamed at each other in front of their closest friends and family.

I have been friends with Claire since 2000 when we studied at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, together. I was origionally coming to the wedding as a guest, but when her photographer had to pull out, I was more than happy to fill his shoes to ensure she had an amazing set of images to remember her day by.

I had an absolute blast shooting the formals with family and bridal party and then I explored the incredible grounds of Kirknewton House Stables with Claire and Andy to get some stunning couples and bridal portraits.

I shot Claire’s dress and accessories in her stunning flat. Loved the wall paper in her bedroom which provided a great backdrop for her beautiful dress.

Saw a cool cushion beside her bed which worked so well as a background for Claire’s earrings.

Loved the flowers, simple and elegant.

I love these shots, it feels live Christmas Eve x 1,000 before the wedding, everyone is so excited and so natural together.

Claire was driven to the venue in a white Edinburgh cab, how cool!

The guys look great in their kilts, had lots of fun doing some shots with the guys before the service. Have some Reservoir Dogs style shots of them walking to camera too!

I was looking for something to shoot the rings against and realised Andy’s kilt would make the perfect background!

Amazing open air ceremony – so lucky the weather was lovely during the service.

This set of photos makes me smile. Love capturing intimate moments like this. They really capture the emotion of the moment.

Beautiful backdrop of Kirknewton Stables.

Claire’s lovely sister, Sandi, wrote the couple a poem for the occasion, it was both funny and touching.

Husband and wife.

Great fun doing this shot – what a great bunch of guests, had a blast!

The bridal party showing off their dancing skills and warming up for the dance floor later!

Another candid moment – sometimes I think it’s the moments in between the posed shots that are the best.

I think this is my favourite shot – love injecting a bit of fashion into the weddings I shoot.

Claire blew me away – she looked truly stunning and was a natural in front of the camera, so great to work with – my job was easy!

Andy looked the part on the day – wish we wore kilts in Ireland – I think they are so cool!

I got the idea for this shot from a photo I came across on Stumble Upon last week of Marilyn Monroe. Click here to check it out and let me know how you think i did!

The happy couple.

The best man’s speech got everyone laughing.

Throwing the bouquet – what a fun shot!

The first dance to Paolo Nutini’s Candy.

Later on in the evening everyone else joined in!

Great end to a great day.

I’ll do a slideshow with more photos later in the week and post it here, so check back soon for that.
