EDINBURGH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

I’m off to Scotland this weekend, Edinburgh in particular, to spend the weekend in a house on the outskirts of the city with a group of 15 friends old and new. I studied for a MA in International Management for three years in Edinburgh and had the chance to spend a year at university in Sweden, which was amazing. Some of my best friend’s are from, or are still living in Scotland’s capital, so I tend to visit there a few times a year to see everyone. Apart from that, I love Edinburgh so much, it is a magical place; the architecture, the people and the nightlife, all make this an incredible place to be. Edinburgh is one of only a handful of locations that I know I could, and would love living in, (the others being New York and Sydney) if I didn’t live in Derry of course.

I’ve got two weddings in Edinburgh booked this summer, which I’m really excited about and this Sunday I’ll be meeting up with one of the couples, Claire and Michael, to do their pre-wedding shoot. The good thing about having friends in Edinburgh aswell is that if I get a wedding photography booking for weddings in and around Edinburgh, I can stay with my two of my best friend’s Jen and Jo, and because I’m over quite a bit can do the pre-wedding shoot when I’m over another time.

What I have noticed from looking at the web traffic on my website and blog, and maybe this is down to Claire and Andrew’s wedding I shot at Kirknewtown House Stables on the outskirts of Edinburgh last summer, is that nearly 1/2 of the traffic to my website comes from people living in or around Edinburgh. So, I would love to shoot more weddings in Edinburgh and if anyone is interested, I only add the price of a return Easyjet flight on top of my package cost!

Here’s my favourite photo from Claire and Andrew’s wedding in Edinburgh last summer.

  1. I wholeheartedly agree Donal – Edinburgh is an absolutely fabulous city. I would love to shoot a wedding there (though being based in Kent I’m not entirely sure this is ever likely to happen!) Wishing you a very successful 2011. All the best, David

Thank you so much for today Donal! Michael and I had a ball! You are so easy to work with, I was quite nervous for the pre wedding shoot as I have never had pictures taken professionally before but we felt so comfortable throughout! Very happy you are taking the pictures on our wedding day!

Claire, you and Michael are amazing! I can’t wait to shoot your wedding – you guys are so much fun and the photos look stunning (even considering the cold!) – will post soon! 🙂
