One Year Later: Claire & Christopher’s Jackson’s Hotel Wedding

Approaching her first wedding anniversary, now is the perfect time to catch up with Claire who shares details of her and Christopher’s amazing Jackson’s Hotel wedding. The happy couple were married on Saturday 29th April 2017.

Here, Claire discusses the inspiration behind their wedding, her favourite memories and some words of wisdom for anyone currently planning their wedding.

Here is what she had to say…

Claire, how did you and Christopher meet?

We met on a night out in Letterkenny through a mutual friend. The rest, as they say, is history.

Tell us about married life. How has your first year been?

The first year has been brilliant. After our wedding we went to Galgorm Resort and Spa for a couple of nights. We had a lovely time. We then went on our honeymoon in July. We have been on a couple of city break trips as well so we both really have had a great year. It has just flown in!

What is your favourite memory of your wedding day?

The day is a bit of a blur for me to be honest! The most memorable part though was walking up the aisle and spotting Christopher at the altar. I was really nervous but as soon as I saw him there I calmed down and relaxed a little.

What three words would you use to describe your wedding?

Windy, relaxed and happy!

Tell us about the search for your dream dress.

I found my dress almost straight away. I wanted something plain and simple from the outset. I went to Pearls and Lace Bridal Boutique in Donegal Town as I had heard great reports about it. My sister was home from Dublin and she suggested we go wedding dress shopping for a wee day out. I honestly did not think I would have found my dress that day. The dress I chose was only the third or fourth one I tried on and it just felt so comfortable that I paid the deposit for it there and then.  The girls at Pearls and Lace are so helpful and friendly.

And the bridesmaid dresses?

Approximately six months later we went back to Pearls and Lace and found bridesmaid dresses which the girls were extremely happy with. Again, we went for something simple. A halter neck, full length dress in a vintage rose colour.

Where did you honeymoon?

We went on a Mediterranean cruise followed by a week in Puerto BanĂºs.

What 5 tips would you offer anyone currently planning their wedding?

  1. Start early and book the big things first e.g. church, band, reception venue, photographer, videographer etc. Once those things are organised the important work is done and you can relax.
  2. Write a list of things you need to do and tick off as you go along.
  3. Don’t stress about the small things.
  4. Try not to worry about pleasing others as it is impossible to keep everyone happy.
  5. Keep in mind the reason behind your big day and that is all that is important.

What do you love the most about your wedding album?

As I mentioned before, the whole day was a bit of blur for me. When we received our photo album it was just so lovely to relive different aspects of the day and recall those small details which went over our heads.
